The Museum of Optography, The Purple Chamber by Derek Ogbourne

Derek Ogbourne presents a talk about the genesis and development of his installation, the Museum of Optography. The artist will discuss the large body of work that has led him to the Museum's inception, from his early large organic paintings to his interactive sculptures, body worn camera performances and his intensely physical works of video art and film. He will lead us from his days at the Slade School of Fine Art in the 1980s to the point when his obsession with the ‘last moment’ developed into the current installment of the Museum of Optography, The Purple Chamber presented at the Sharjah Art Foundation, Collections Building, Arts Area, Heart of Sharjah.

The talk will be followed by a screening of two short films by the artist.
