Designer’s Profile: Frank are design duo Pam West and Matt Edmonds. The two designer met whilst studying at Buckinghamshire college in 1995. They studied furniture design at MA level and then went on to establish their own practice in 2001. Since then Frank have been developing a wonderfully pragmatic and sensible approach to design.
A method of working unites the Frank portfolio projects as in many other ways the designs produced by West and Edmonds are incredibly diverse. From interior design to accessories to furniture and product design scale, material and intent are each different. Rigorous pragmatism often manifests itself in Frank’s work as an ambition toward economy of material or labor. There is little detail for details sake in Frank’s products, rather West and Edmonds absorb themselves with the function of an object and choose to underline their own detachment from design pre-occpied only with style.
Although Frank boast a substantial portfolio of work this, the M5 table is the first of the duos design to be put into production.
