Designer’s Profile: Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby met whilst studying together at London’s Royal College of Art. Together they formed their design studio, ‘BarberOsgerby’ in 1996. The company grew quickly, winning key commissions and earning this dynamic duo much acclaim for their refreshing design aesthetics. a long standing relationship with Giulio Cappellini has followed an early patronization from the prolific manutacturer and the loop table, one of the studio’s earliest designs has now reached iconic status.
In recent years Edward and Jay have been developing collections of distinctive designs for leading international manufacturers and clients such as Magis, Authentics, Venini and Isokon. The partnership has exhibited widely and won many accolades. Amongst them; Best New Designer ICFF 1998, Best Furniture Design from Design Week magazine 2003 and 2004 plus further awards from the V&A Museum, I.D. Magazine and Blueprint. BarberOsgerby picked up the prestigious Jerwood Prize for the Applied Arts in September 2004. The company’s design aesthetic is well developed and becoming increasingly established within the international design arena.
