Product Specification: FELT ROCKS are made from 100% pure wool felt, solid all the way through! Part discovery, part invention, felt rocks are formed as a by-product in the process of making felt polishing wheels for optical lenses.
Small bits of wool stuff together more and more felt fibre, growing like snowballs, as they tumble around in a big mechanized drum along with the polishing wheels. Each wool fibre is a tiny hollow tube with burred sides.
In the felting process these little tubes become entangled with one another, encouraged by steam and pressure, forming a strong bond without any glues or binders needed. Like rocks formed by the tumbling action of ocean waves, each felt rock has a unique shape texture.
