The first annual design competition, created and hosted by traffic design gallery has successfully uncovered the not-yet-discovered design talent in the region, allowing new and local designers alike to get in front of influential audiences within the design world. This competition has encouraged all levels of designers – from students to well-established designers to push themselves and gain recognition, not only through their designs, but also the success of the event itself.
Rami Farook, owner of traffic design gallery and the founder of this exciting and inaugural competition is thrilled at its success. “The standard of the entries has been outstanding which is why we are not only looking to manufacture the winning prototypes, but hopefully some of the runners up – as well as creating entire design lines from them. I really hope that we can develop this inaugural winning collection into the region’s first contemporary designer line that will be eventually distributed globally.”
Based on the success of the inaugural competition this year, the competition is now looking forward to the next year’s event; for which entries will be accepted from October 2008 - with the award becoming a renowned accolade for design excellence in the region.
