THE REGION’S FIRST ANNUAL DESIGN COMPETITION ANNOUNCES THE WINNERS

June 28, 2008

Lounge chair; Fadi Sarieddine, Dubai: ‘Dubai Syndrome’

Fadi is an Associate designer at DSA Architects where he has worked for 4 years, following his love of furniture design on the side.

Fadi’s winning chair design; Dubai Syndrome – a chair made from concrete and metal was inspired by living in Dubai. Living in a concrete jungle inspired Fadi to utilise those very materials that surround him everyday – just brought to another dimension with humour involved.

“Winning was just simply a great feeling,” says Sarieddine. “I was absolutely speechless as I had expected not to win; a kind of self preservation, if you like and it was a true surprise as one of the jurors; Konstantin is a really great bluffer as I was chatting to him and he led me to believe that I wasn’t going to win – so when I did…I was really very happy. I’m definitely going to re-enter the competition next year. I can’t wait.”
