The winners of the 3 categories are as follows:
Decorative object; Rita Nader, Beirut: ‘Flashbeam’
Rita, a student from Beirut, Lebanon wowed the judges with her exciting and forward-thinking design for this lighting system.
Rita’s winning piece - Flashbeam is a light fixture glowing through layers of polycarbonate, just like a light pillar is created by the reflection of light from ice crystal plates with horizontal parallel surface.
The shape started with an octagon, a typical oriental pattern, the object of an archetypal moucharabieh, becoming a simple stack of parallel polycarbonate sheets.
