The Middle East’s first design competition final
Rami Farook; owner of traffic and founder of the inaugural design competition hosted the event on June 28, 2008
Winners:
1. a decorative object; Rita Nader, Beirut: ‘Flashbeam’
2. a lounge chair; Fadi Sarieddine, Dubai: ‘Dubai Syndrome’
3. interior design of a concept store; Katrin Greiling, Dubai: ‘Cabin.’
High-profile jury panel in attendance included Konstantin Grcic, Shumon Basar and local star architect Khalid Al Najjar.
THE REGION’S FIRST ANNUAL DESIGN COMPETITION ANNOUNCES THE WINNERS
traffic design gallery launched the Middle East’s first regional annual design competition in November 2007 – for which the winners of the three categories were announced last night on Saturday 28th June 2008 at the highly anticipated final.
The evening, which took place in traffic design store and gallery welcomed the 150-strong design crowd to view the shortlisted designs and prototypes from the 3 categories and see the exciting announcement of the winners. The evening was hosted by Rami Farook; owner of traffic and founder of this inaugural event.
The 28 finalists for the three categories: a decorative object, a lounge chair and the interior design of a design retail space were shortlisted by the high-profile jury including Konstantin Grcic, Shumon Basar and local star architect Khalid Al Najjar and the winners announced live with huge anticipation to the waiting crowd.
